Mount Ślęża, like a solitary guardian of Lower Silesia, has been attracting those seeking peace, strength and spiritual depth for centuries. In pagan times, it was the place where the sun, water, and stone were revered as life-giving elements. Its energy – still felt today – continues to attract tourists and pilgrims. The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected at the summit – austere and silent, blending into the landscape, as if it had always been a bridge between earth and heaven.
In recent years, a decision was made to renovate the temple, with one of the key elements being the replacement of the window joinery. This task demanded exceptional care – both technically and aesthetically. FAKRO INNOVIEW wooden windows were chosen for their ability to seamlessly blend craftsmanship with modern innovation, while showing complete respect for a site of profound spiritual and cultural importance.
The IV 78 system, crafted from pinewood and finished in SEPIA with the elegant REGULAR profile variant, was used. Wood – a natural material intimately connected to humanity and the spirituality of the place became the bearer of renewed quality. The temple was fitted with arched windows with mullion bars, referencing the historical glazing patterns and preserving the architectural rhythm established centuries ago.
In places like the church on Ślęża, technology must never dominate; it must coexist harmoniously with history. That is why INNOVIEW offers solutions that not only meet the highest functional standards but also resonate with the soul of the building. Wooden windows in the IV 78 system, crafted from the finest pine, provide excellent thermal insulation and acoustic performance. Their robust design withstands extreme conditions – an essential quality at 718 metres above sea level, where the weather can be unpredictable.
However, it is not only about technical performance. Attention to detail – through bespoke solutions crafted specifically for this temple – ensures the new windows do not disrupt the monument’s character, but rather enhance it. The warm SEPIA wood finish harmonises beautifully with the raw stone walls, creating a unified and balanced whole. This is architecture where light becomes a vessel for a spiritual message.
At FAKRO, we believe technology can serve not only the future but also honour the past. The INNOVIEW wooden windows used on Ślęża stand as a testament to responsible design and a deep respect for heritage. Every place has its own story, but only a few – like this one – are able to tell it through light.
